HP ENVY Desktop PC TE02-0000i RCTO Base Model

I've just purchased this refurbished ENVY TE02 0000i. As I began surveying the motherboard I noticed that this board seemed to be stripped. Sodder and empty squares fill the field, leaving exactly one SATA connector altogether on the unit. I have found exactly one 4-pin connector available, so much for adding fans. Seriously, is this normal?

I have taken pictures of the hard drive  I will be glad to submit them in service of a more complete answer.

@DirectDAS,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Some pictures pointing out what your concerns are, would be most helpful.

Is your HP Envy TE02-0000i substantially different as shown in this YouTube video: Removing & Replacing Parts | HP ENVY TE02-0000 Desktop PC| HP Computer Service | @HPSupport - YouTub...?

Kind Regards,

In case of problem, since it is refurbished equipment, you should see with the dealer!
however, it is very common, depending on the needs, what the manufacturer wants, here hp, the motherboard may not be fully equipped
some items, could be used for another model, similar hp motherboard, but not the same options
according to what you indicated, you must probably have the BlizzardU motherboard
to check according to the exact model, but according to this very probable:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-desktop-pc-te02-0000i/2100828663/product-info

so this motherboard most certainly looks like this, which would confirm the absence of a sata slot!

That's an excellent suggestion I will check out the video. This brings up a follow up question: are the missing pieces able to be purchased and installed on the board? I want to have at least SOME options for bulking it up for a stronger GPU. I appreciate your post, NonSequitur777.

@DirectDAS,

Yes, this motherboard actually offers all you really need: you can install plenty of RAM, two M.2 NVMe SSDs, a WLAN Wi-Fi card, a high(er) end graphics card -depending on the wattage of your CoolerMaster power supply, meaning that in order to power higher-end GPUs and depending on their minimum power supply requirements, you may have to upgrade your power supply. As far as powering additional cooling fan or fans, you could always work with a dual or triple 4-pin PWM fan splitter cable.

Hope this was helpful.

Watch out @DirectDAS
you mentioned in your first message, sata slots, missing, this simply cannot be added like that!
you will only be able to add, replace certain elements
always if you have the motherboard model mentioned

Thanks, Nonsequitur777. Actually, though, I've found only two usable m.2 ports - one PCIe and the other one SATA. I'd love it if they really could house two PCIe ssds.  Didn't know about the splitter cable - thanks! I am a recently retired history teacher who is just now attempting to foray into gaming. My long-term plan in to upgrade the power supply to 1000w and to upgrade to an RTX 3090.  The spec sheet for the motherboard claims it can be upgraded all the way up to the intel 12900s, but unless I am mistaken, intel retired the LDA 1200 process form after the 11th generation.

@DirectDAS
try to identify the model of your exact computer, and what could be currently installed, model of the processor, graphics card if there is etc
otherwise all that will be indicated to you here, will be only assumption

Sincerely, Prométhée
