I have the HP ENVY 750-055xt which uses the Kaili motherboard. There is an mSATA socket on the motherboard and I have inserted a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD. Happily this solid state drive works and is recognized immediately by Windows 7 with no further fuss. However, the motherboard does not have the small screw to secure the tiny mSATA drive securely on the motherboard.
Does anyone know the correct screw size used to secure the mSATA SSD to the Kaili motherboard?

Hi Big_Dave,
Thanks for your reply. I have inseted a picture of the Samsung SSD 850 EVO mSATA drive.
It fits in the mSATA slot on my HP MS-7826 (Kaili) motherboard. Please see below.
The drive performs well as my boot drive. As it isn't fastened to the motherboard properly, the only thing holding it in is the retension force of the socket. On ocassion the tiny board gets loose in the socket and it won't be seen in the boot path. Openning up the ENVY 750 chasis and re-inserting the mSATA board will get the computer running again. The tiny screw would prevent the board from backing out of its socket and all the frustration of re-seating it.
Elsewhere in this forum, I've found reference to the screw I'm looking for. It's the same one used in the PCI express minicard slot used for the WiFi board. The expert source here described the flat head machine screw as a size M1.6. I've ordered an M1.6 x 3mm from China. I think this should work. Some here have said they've used an M2.0 flathead screw in the mSATA slot and it seemed to work for them.
My HP motherboard doesn't have an M.2 slot. If it did, then I probably would have opted for the Samsung SSD M.2 drive, instead of the mSATA SSD drive.
For the moment, I think I've resolved the issue with the missing motherboard screw for the nSATA slot. Nevertheless, Big_Dave, thanks for responding to me here.

Hi,
Do a google search on "Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SSD" and tell us what device you are referencing. We are not sure how you are inserting the named SSD into a mSATA socket.
BTW - The m.2 SSD slot should be sized for two different sizes of m.2 SSDs. There should be a screw in one of those standoffs. Otherwise try a M2.0 x 3mm screw. Typically they are recessed and have a flat head.

I knew before hand that the mSATA slot was SATA only as I have responded to numerous posts with such information. The m.2 reference namely pertains to form factor.:smileysurprised:
Disassembling the SSD to retrieve the circuit card voids the warranty. This is a classic example of what NOT TO DO even if it works.:smileysurprised:
