Hello, I am looking for two answers. What is the board type (ATX, mATX, ITX, ect) of the HP ProDesk G4 SFF? And, will I be able to upgrade to a 9th gen processor without a BIOS update?
If not, can you provide me a BIOS update?

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
I happened to make an HP ProDesk 400 G4 SFF an HP legacy desktop upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading HP ProDesk 400 G4 SFF - HP Support Community - 8488474.
I was able to show that a 91-watt TDP processor is compatible with this desktop (i5-7600K): HP ProDesk 400 G4 SFF Performance Results - UserBenchmark, which means that the i7-7700K would also be compatible with this PC.
To answer your questions: your motherboard (SSID: HP 82A2) is a proprietary motherboard and can only be fitted with a 6th or 7th gen Intel processor.
Kind Regards,
