HP Slimline s3507c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Does anyone know what type of mounting brackets I need to purchase to put a 2.5" SSD drive into an HP Slimeline s3507c? The SSD is 2.5" and the hard-drive bay is 3.5" pull-out.

If you visit this webpage, http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01050020, and scroll down to "Installing the Hard Drive", you can see the hard-drive bay of my computer.

I have tried the standard SSD to 3.5" inch bay adapters and the screws don't match up. This one doesn't work: http://www.corsair.com/en/ssd-mounting-bracket

I have the SSD mounted with duct-tape right now, but there has to be a better way.

Thank you 🙂

Melanie

Hi,

I actually found this on Amazon and Ebay when I clicked your link in an ad below:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Adapter-Tray-654540-001-Bracket/dp/B00LIQXJE4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=14710...

I think this will work! It says it is an authentic HP SSD adpater. I ordered it and will let you know in a few days.

Hi, Melanie:

Take a look at this one and see if it would work...

https://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Drive-Mounting-Bracket-Adapter/dp/B00AYJFXIQ

The way I see it, is that you attach the bracket to the original bracket with the 4 screws in step 2 of the HDD installation guide.

And you position and secure the SSD anywhere along the 4 long mounting areas on the interior of the bracket.

Does that look right to you?

Hi Paul,

That does look right! I appreciate the fast response. I will order it and let you know how it goes 🙂 Thank you for taking time to respond.

You're very welcome.

I hope to read good news in a few days...

Hi,

Unfortunately this didn't work. The picture was not accurate from Amazon--it was exactly the same as the Adata tray with screw holes in the four corners for the drive and side screw holes. The harddrive pulls out in the HP s3507c in a heavy metal tray. I am not sure I could attach screw holes to the side of the heavy HP tray. They would have to fit the bottom of the HP Tray somehow. The original picture on Amazon looked like it matched but that is not what they mailed me!

Thanks again for your help. Any other suggestions?

Hi:

That's terrible.

I assumed what you saw was what you would get.

You need an adapter that fits inside the drive cage and screws into the 4 holes in the bottom where the 3.5" hard drive screws into.

How about something like this?  It is flexible and no screws are required and it is dirt cheap.

Looks like you just slide the thing into the hard drive cage and then slide the ssd into the smaller pocket.

Hi Paul,

Yes, I was disappointed in the Amazon photo. I think I can use it in a different computer in the future, so I will keep it.

In the HP Slimline s3507c, the SSD is actually mounted upsidedown in the heavy pull-out metal tray so it has to be mounted with screws otherwise it will fall out. I am already noticing some strain on the duct tape holding the ADATA metal adapter to the heavy metal pull-out tray.

The original 3.5 inch SATA harddrive wasn't screwed it to the tray, it was just in there tightly. There are screwholes in the bottom of the heavy pull-out metal tray, they just don't match up with any of the SSD apaters because the bottom SSD holes are for screwing in the SSD drive and then there are no holes left on the bottom.

I appreciate all your help 🙂 There has to be someone else who has tried one of these drives. The computer works great with Windows 10.

I sure hope it does.  Looks like it just might.

Hi Paul!

I have good news--the HP one under the link you sent me worked perfectly. The screws lined up and the SSD is mounted properly without duct tape. The duct tape made it really hard to pull the drive out, so the HP adapter worked great!

I have another HP tower where the SSD is mounted with velcro, so I am going to order one more!

Thank you again for taking time to help me!!! 🙂
