My HDD runs with firmware HP16. I want to move the HDD to another PC, as a data drive. Are there any issues with compatability that I should be aware of? New pc is not a HP brand.

As the ST20000DM001 is circa 2014, I would not trust the duty cycle to last under continuous spin mounted as a data drive. If your unconcerned about data intergrity, stored massive amounts of files. then I hope you have backups stored off-line.

I bought years ago 10 indentical Seagate 1 TB drives. The model at this time does not really matter. Those that died: (1) The first only had 30 hours on the drive, spanned across 2 years of off-line backup. (2) Another bricked after 3 years. None of these drives were ever used full time. All were redundant CLONE drives of different computers.
That said, hard drives are not specific to any computer manufacturer.
