OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-130
Microsoft Windows 11

2nd try asking about my antenna having an issue, No response for over a week.  Lets try this again.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Hi Lately my Bluetooth hasn't been working correctly. it wont connect to devices sometimes, always says that didn't work, try again,

also wont always show anything to connect when i try to pair something. when something is connected it only works right next to the pc or on top of it (Bluetooth Speaker) if i move it loses connection. I think my antenna is going bad,

Does anyone know what type of Bluetooth antenna is compatible with my tower? and one that is not expensive

I have a Omen by HP Desktop PC - 870-130 PC, with a Thimphu Motherboard.

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with an Intel 3168 AC Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter.

HP PartSurfer

The only suggestion I can offer would be to update the Intel Bluetooth driver to the latest version from the Intel website.

Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® for Windows® 10 and Windows 11*

The above driver should install BT driver version  20.100.10.11

While you're at it, you may want to update the Intel Wi-Fi driver too.

Windows® 10 and Windows 11* Wi-Fi Drivers for Intel® Wireless Adapters

The above driver should install Wi-Fi driver version 19.51.50.2.

You should also make sure that both antenna wires are attached to the Wi-Fi card if you have been working inside the PC, and this problem has recently surfaced.

They are easy to unknowingly break or detach.

If that doesn't help, you can upgrade to this model card:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro    HP part #L35282-005

Replacing the Wi-Fi card is not very easy because it is very small and the antenna wires that connect to it are extremely thin and delicate.

Your other option would be to use a USB Bluetooth adapter such as this one:

It is a newer BT revision than what the Intel 3168 has.

Hi:

You can't use an Intel vPro adapter.

vPro is only supported in high end business desktop PC's that support the Intel vPro technology.

You have to use the non-vPro model part number that I posted.

Did you check inside your PC to see if the two antenna wires currently connected to the Intel card are OK?

If they are, you don't need to buy a kit with external antenna wires unless you feel that it will be easier for you to install the card that way.

Also, the AX200 should work in any Intel PC's Wi-Fi card's M.2 slot.

I don't think the processor generation matters.

I have Intel AX200 PCIe x1 adapters running in my older Dell Intel 4th gen PC's and they work fine.

As a matter of fact, you could probably use this even newer Wi-Fi 6E card...this one is non-vPro according to the SPS # on the card's label.

Yea i opened it and checked the wires just last night, everything is intact, ive noticed lately my Bluetooth controller will connect and disconnect. I use a Dualshock 4 controller, did an experiment where i disabled the option to shut off Bluetooth to save power. controller still kept shutting off so i have a feeling my wifi adapter. also i just saw the non vpro part, my bad,
is bad. and when i try to use a Bluetooth speaker it loses connection if i move it away from my tower even a foot
this is what popped up on amazon when i copied and pasted what you said, so i thought this was the right one.
Tried updating drivers, reinstalling, nothing. Also just now saw the Non Vpro thing you were talking about, my bad

Yes, that is pretty odd that if both antenna wires are connected that the BT has such limited range.

Perhaps you would be better off using external antennas but it is also possible the BT chip on the Intel Wi-Fi card is defective.

I have a feeling it is going bad, either that or the wires, my tower has two metal antennas built in under the top cover.

are new wires easy to connect, if i have something like this?
