My HP 2159m monitor keeps turning on and off everytime i turn it on

My HP 2159m monitor keeps turning on and off every time I turn it on.  This has been happening for a couple of days and it won't even recognize signs from my computer (mac).

I understand you have issues with the monitor. Let us perform a hard reset on the monitor:

• Disconnect the monitor’s power cord and the cable from the computer.
• Press and hold the power button of the computer for about 20 seconds to discharge static electrical charges.
• Reconnect the power cord and check if the monitor goes blank or flickers without connecting it to the computer.

Check the connections. Reseat the power cable firmly.

You may also connect it to a different good known power outlet and check if that helps.
