OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-119
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, as the title says, my video card just died and no matter how I reseat and change the HDMI cable, it seems no signal is coming out of it. I am currently typing this on its integrated graphics card HDMI port. I am not that knowledgeable so I just posted the specific model I have so everyone knows what specs I have right now minus the graphics card.

I am wondering if anyone can help me with the best possible upgrade I can do with the Graphics card with no CPU bottlenecking and good enough for the 500w power supply.

I do some gaming and was playing Warframe online, Final Fantasy XIV online, World of Tanks, RDDR2, GTA V, etc. with the old GPU even though not at max setting but good enough with no stuttering on minimum to medium settings.

It is an old PC, all I need is some value for its money upgrade with some improvements. I am thinking of three possible GPUs I researched and would like to know what is best, even if I do upgrade the old power supply just to accommodate what the specs can handle. RTX 2060, GTX 1070 Ti, and the Radeon 5600XT are the likely candidates. With my limited knowledge, I might have missed other possibilities than what I listed.

Thank You!

@Maddok,

Actually, not to worry: your 500-watt power supply (please verify) is more than sufficient to power both an RTX 2060 or a GTX 1070 Ti.

@Maddok,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

The graphics cards you mentioned are great choices, and you can't go wrong with any of them!

Specifically your first two Nvidia GPUs:

1.) UserBenchmark: Nvidia GTX 960 vs RTX 2060, see User Benchmark: HP 870-119 Performance Results - UserBenchmark

2.) UserBenchmark: Nvidia GTX 1070-Ti vs 960, see User Benchmark: HP 870-119 Performance Results - UserBenchmark

Hope this was helpful.

Wow, Thank you very much for the quick reply, Sir. The user benchmarks are very informative.

I guess all I need to consider is if I have to change my power supply to 600w at least because I am afraid the current one might be underperforming already or if only at minimum requirements with the first two GPUs you mentioned that are good candidates.

Thank you again!
