Hi @willyj8749

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how worrying it feels when a desktop suddenly refuses to respond, and I appreciate the effort you’ve already taken to check the basics.

Let’s walk through a clear set of steps together to bring the Pavilion Slimline s5600 back to life:

Step 1: Power Source and Cable Check

  • Ensure the wall outlet is working by testing it with another device.
  • Confirm the power cable is firmly connected to both the PC and the outlet.
  • If you are using a surge protector or UPS, try connecting the PC directly to the wall socket.

Step 2: Power Supply and Indicator

  • Look at the back of the power supply for any switch; make sure it is set to “On.”
  • Check if there is any light on the back of the power supply or motherboard when the cable is connected. Even a faint glow indicates power is reaching the system.

Step 3: Reseat Connections

  • Disconnect the power cable.
  • Open the side panel and gently reseat the main power connector from the power supply to the motherboard.
  • Also reseat the smaller 4-pin or 6-pin CPU power connector if present.

Step 4: Minimal Hardware Test

  • Remove any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  • Try powering on with only keyboard, mouse, and monitor connected.
  • If comfortable, remove and reseat the memory modules, then attempt to power on again.

Step 5: Perform a Hardware Reset

  • Disconnect the power cable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual electricity.
  • Reconnect the cable and try powering on once more.

These steps often help revive a system that appears completely unresponsive. The sensory cues to watch for are any lights, fan spins, or even a brief click when pressing the power button—each is a sign that power is flowing. If none of these occur after trying the above, the issue may be with the power supply or motherboard, but the steps above will help narrow it down.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
