MY LAPTOP'S CAPS LOCK BEEN BLINKING LIKE IN A PATTERN (KIND OF MORSE CODE PATTERN - 1... 2... 3... 123...)
BUT MY PC WORKS WELL. I JUST THOUGHT I COULD ASK SOMEONE FROM HP TO LOOK INTO THIS. I RAN THE DIAGNOSTICS TOOL TOO BUT NOTHING CAME UP. ONLY "Disk Read Verify" TEST FAILED

Hi @Buntea
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’re dealing with a blinking Caps Lock light, which can often be a diagnostic indicator used by HP laptops to signal a specific error or issue. While the laptop is working fine, the blinking light pattern indicates there might be a hardware problem, particularly with the system board or memory.
Here’s what you can do:
1. Understanding the Blinking Pattern
HP laptops typically use the Caps Lock blinking pattern to indicate error codes. The pattern you’re describing—something like “1... 2... 3... 123...” (possibly a Morse code-like sequence)—is usually a way for the laptop to signal an error related to the BIOS, memory, or system board.
You can refer to HP's specific error codes to interpret the exact meaning. For example:
- 1 blink: Memory issue
- 2 blinks: BIOS failure
- 3 blinks: Processor failure
- The pattern you’re seeing could mean something related to one of these or other hardware components.
2. Addressing the Diagnostic Failure
Since your Disk Read Verify test failed, it could indicate a potential issue with your hard drive or SSD. Even though the laptop seems to work fine right now, it could be a sign of a failing disk, which can lead to issues down the line.
Troubleshooting Steps
- Restart and Check Again: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor glitches, so try restarting the laptop and see if the blinking pattern persists.
- Reseat Memory: If you feel comfortable doing so, you can try reseating the RAM. Sometimes loose or poorly seated memory can cause issues.
- Check for BIOS Update: Since the BIOS could be involved (as indicated by some error codes), check if there’s a BIOS update available on HP’s support site for your model.
If this does not help it must be a hardware issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
