I ordered a Blu-ray player, but it would not work. I downloaded CyberLink software and Power DVD. It now plays CDs and DVDs but will not play Blu-rays. The error message says that the computer does not support HDR. How can this issue be remedied?

"HDR not supported," it likely means

your monitor, graphics card, or cable doesn't support HDR,

or the necessary settings aren't enabled in Windows.

Check Hardware Compatibility:
  • Monitor:
Ensure your monitor is HDR-certified (look for terms like "HDR," "HDR10," or "Dolby Vision" in the specifications).

  • Graphics Card:
Make sure your graphics card supports HDR and has the latest drivers installed.

  • Cable:
Use a high-quality HDMI or DisplayPort cable that supports HDR. Older cables might not be capable of carrying the necessary HDR signal.

2. Enable HDR in Windows Settings:
  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and make sure "Use HDR" is turned on.

  • You may also need to adjust the HDR brightness and SDR brightness sliders.

  • Ensure "Play HDR games and apps" is turned on under "HDR and WCG".

3. Check Monitor Settings:
  • Navigate through your monitor's settings menu to see if there are any specific HDR settings that need to be enabled.
  • Your monitor's user manual can provide guidance on accessing and adjusting these settings.
