Hi,
I want to update my RAM for my HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF PC. The product number is SL228UP#ABA. The motherboard is 3646h and the BIOS is 786G7 v01.13.
I went to Crucial.com and scanned my computer and the result was that I had two empty RAM slots which could take 4GB DDR3L-1600 UDIMM 1.35VCL11.
I bought two sticks of RAM and when I installed them the computer wouldn't boot and it repeatedly beeped and a red light flashed continuously. When I removed the two new RAM sticks the computer booted up fine. I took removed the old RAM from the computer and only put one of the new RAM sticks in and the computer did not boot and beeped and the red light flashed again.
I contacted support at Crucial and the online chat technician said my BIOS needed to be updated. After digging around to find the BIOS firmware on the HP site I downloaded it and it still didn't work. I'm pretty sure I didn't do it right.
How do I fix this? I'm using the computer now to type this message. I doubt both sticks of RAM are faulty and I'm really nervous about messing around with the BIOS.

Hi:
The HP 8000 and 8100 Elite's are very hard to find working memory for.
This is the memory I used in my 8000 Elite. Works just fine...

See if you can get a refund from Crucial.
It is not a BIOS issue.
