Hi @Dylster, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your OMEN 15 power button blinks but the screen never turns on, it could indicate a hardware failure or a BIOS issue. Try these troubleshooting steps:
Check the Blink Pattern
Count the number of blinks—HP laptops use a blink code to indicate errors:
- 1 long + 2 short → BIOS corruption
- 1 long + 3 short → Memory issue
- 2 blinks → CPU failure
- 3 blinks → RAM failure
- 5 blinks → Motherboard issue
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect charger and peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Reconnect only the charger and try turning it on.
Try a BIOS Recovery
Since you've had BIOS-related issues before, try recovering it:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V).
- While holding, press the power button for 3-5 seconds, then release all keys.
- If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the instructions.
Check RAM and Reseat It
A faulty or loose RAM module can cause this issue:
- Remove the bottom panel (if you're comfortable).
- Locate the RAM sticks.
- Remove and reseat them firmly in place.
- Try booting again.
External Display Test
If the laptop boots but the screen is black, try:
- Connecting to an external monitor via HDMI.
- Pressing Windows + P and selecting Duplicate.
- If an external screen works, the internal display or GPU might be faulty.
Check for Overheating Issues
Since your OMEN 15 has a history of overheating, a thermal failure could have caused this. Try:
- Removing the bottom panel to check for dust buildup.
- Repasting the CPU/GPU thermal paste (if it's been a long time).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
