Hi @impraveenj,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the spacebar on your HP ENVY 13-Ay1000 X360 Convertible PC isn't working properly, here are several steps you can take to try and fix it.

Clean the Keyboard:

  • Dust and debris can sometimes cause keys to malfunction. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust under and around the keys. You can also use a soft brush to clean the area.

Check for Physical Damage:

  • Inspect the spacebar key for any signs of physical damage or misalignment. If the keycap is loose or misaligned, gently try to reseat it.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager on your PC.
  • Expand the "Keyboards" section.
  • Right-click on your keyboard device and select "Update driver."
  • If updating the driver doesn’t help, you can try uninstalling the driver and restarting your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Sometimes, software conflicts can cause keyboard issues. Boot your computer in Safe Mode and check if the spacebar works. If it does, the problem might be with a software application or driver conflict.

Use an External Keyboard:

  • Connect an external keyboard to your laptop. If the external keyboard works fine, it confirms the issue is with the laptop’s built-in keyboard.

Run Keyboard Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select "Keyboard" and then "Run the troubleshooter."

Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:

  • Sometimes, a BIOS/UEFI update can fix hardware issues. Check the HP support website for any available updates for your model.

Reset Your PC:

  • As a last resort, you can try resetting your PC. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
