HP Slim Desktop PC S01-pF2000i (4M0H6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I owns a HP Slim Desktop PC S01-pF2123in

The SSD Space is about to be full in my PC. The Desktop uses NVME SSD M.2

However I can't find the generation 3 or 4 in support files for the desktop on HP website. How can I check Generation 3 or 4 for SSD already installed on my Desktop.

Hi:

Below is the link to the product specs page for your PC.

HP Slim Desktop S01-pF2123in PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

According to the motherboard specs it has an Intel ADL H670 chipset.

The Intel specs for the chipset indicates that the PCIe revision is Generation 3.0 or 4.0.

Intel H670 Chipset Product Specifications

The parts list for your PC indicates that two NVMe SSD's were offered.

HP PartSurfer

One of them is PCIe Gen 4 x 4.

N45476-002
SKO-SSD 512GB PCIe-4x4 2280 NVMe M.2

The other one (Value) is PCIe Gen 3.0.

SKO-SSD 512GB M2 2280 PCIe NVMe Value

HP L85364-002 - 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive - Drive Solutions

Since NVMe 4 x 4 SSD's are hardly more expensive than a Gen 3.0 SSD is nowadays, I'd take my chances on the Gen 4.

They are backward compatible anyway.

Check out the Western Digital Blue SN580 which is a budget priced Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

Amazon.in: Buy Western Digital WD Blue SN580 NVMe 1TB, Upto 4150MB/s, 5 Y Warranty, PCIe Gen 4 NVMe ...

Otherwise if you want to spend more money on a much faster NVMe SSD (assuming the NVMe slot is Gen 4.0), look into either the Samsung 980 Pro or newer Samsung 990 Pro.

I opened the cover of desktop and there was only one NVME slot with SSD already installed. I found no other SSD slot but there were three SATA cables. Considering the size of cabinet why they provided 3 SATA cables when there is no space or slot for SATA SSD? I made mistake by purchasing Slim desktop instead of Normal sized desktop.

Yes, there is only support for one M2 SSD and you would have to replace the existing one to install another one.

I am not a PC design engineer and I do not work for or represent HP, so unfortunately, I will not be able to answer your question regarding the # of SATA ports on the motherboard.

I can only inform you that the same motherboard is used in other HP desktops that have the standard tower form factor such as this one, for example, which has the same motherboard as your PC, and is a standard size tower.
