I Bouught Samsung PM981 SSD for my HP Pavilion 590-P0020d ryzen Desktop PC Having Sunflower Mother Board. On checking SSD Info, It shows SSD running on PCIE GEN 2.0. Since the drive is OEM Version and not supported by Samsung as Retail Product. I dont know what is wrong and why it cant be run on PCI E Gen 3.0. Sunflower Motherboard is based on AMD B350 Chipset and have proper M2 2280 Slot. Any help will be appreciated. I Installed a fresh windows and drivers on this SSD.

Greetings,
Welcome back to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
The SSD should be recognized by Samsung software regardless of OEM or Retail status. You could install the Samsung NVME driver. I don't know if will fix your problems.
Did you install the new SSD before installing Magician? Magician may not work correctly if this software was installed prior to installing the new SSD.
Uninstall and reinstall Magician.
The Gen 2x4 problem may be caused by AMD's PCIe device protocol or HP may have limited HSIO to the device to PCIe 2.0.
I don't know the answer to this issue.
Have you checked the BIOS for PCIe settings? PCIe 2.0 for this device may be baked into the motherboard.

Hi Mubeen77,
I usually buy the Samsung 900 series M.2 drives (970 EVO or 970 PRO).
I have Intel systems.
Samsung Magician works and the M.2 drives run at PCIe 3.0x4.
I really think your motherboard's chipset only supports PCIe 2.0.
I am very surprised Samsung Magician gives limited support with the Samsung drive purchased.
It looks like you can only benchmark the drive. No over provisioning or other tweaks are available.
You can look examine the M.2 drive's characteristics by downloading Crystal Disk Info portable 8.0.0 zip version at this (Link).
You can also download Crystal Disk Mark 6.0.2 zip version at this site. CDM can also benchmark the drive.
