Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My HP CDDVDW-SH16DB Disc Drive doesn't show on my Windows 7 64 Bit HP workstation z420. I tried seeing if it is in device manager but it doesn't show, (clicking show hidden devices doesn't work either) so I believe this is a driver issue. So if someone could tell me what driver I need for my device please let me know. Thanks

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this discussion is of help to you...

Hi, sadly this didn't really help. I can provide more information about the issue though...

My HP Workstation z420 is dual-booted with Windows 10 and 7,

Windows 10 actually does detect the Disc drive and it fully works when Windows 7 just won't find it.

My BIOS has the boot order as:

UEFI Boot Sources

Hard Drive

Windows Boot Manager

USB Hard Drive

Windows Boot Manager

Windows Boot Manager

Windows Boot Manager

Windows Boot Manager

USB Floppy/CD

ATAPI CD/DVD Drive

Legacy Boot Sources

ATAPI CD/DVD DRIVE

USB Floppy/CD

Hard Drive

USB Hard Drive

M2.SLOT4

Micron 1300 SATA 256GB

Network Controller AMT (IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1556)

Sorry that didn't work.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions for you to try..

CD/DVD drivers have been included in Windows, since Windows 2000 came out.

There are no standalone drivers for the drive.
