Hello, I am trying to swap my CPU from an I3 to an i7 10700F, but I cannot for the life of me find out if this will require a bios update on my Baker 8767 Motherboard. Any help is appreciated.

Hi @Ebbon,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-0000i (8BG56AV) requires a BIOS update to support the i7-10700F CPU on the Baker 8767 motherboard, follow these steps:
Check HP Support Page:
- Visit the HP Support page for your model.
- Enter your product number (8BG56AV) or select your model from the list.
- Go to the "Software and Drivers" section and look for any BIOS updates available for your system.
Review Release Notes:
- Check the release notes of the BIOS updates listed on the support page. These notes often indicate what improvements or changes are included in each update, including support for new CPU models.
Current BIOS Version:
- Determine your current BIOS version:
- Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
- Type msinfo32 and press Enter.
- In the System Information window, look for the "BIOS Version/Date" entry.
- Compare your current BIOS version with the latest version available on the HP Support page.
Check Compatibility:
- Review the specifications of the Baker 8767 motherboard, if available, on the HP Support page or in your system's manual. Look for information regarding supported CPUs.
- Confirm that the i7-10700F is listed as a compatible processor for your motherboard.
Update BIOS (if needed):
- If a BIOS update is necessary, download the latest BIOS update from the HP Support page.
- Follow the instructions provided by HP to update your BIOS. This usually involves creating a bootable USB drive with the BIOS update file and running the update utility.
Important Notes:
- Ensure your system is stable and connected to a reliable power source during the BIOS update to avoid any interruptions.
- Back up any important data before proceeding with a BIOS update as a precaution.
