I keep getting a message saying "your device is missing an important update."
2023-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5025239)
Then the process to download and install start but then I get the message saying, (Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry-undoing changes. Please keep your computer on). I have done this about 8 times this past week. I uninstalled my anti virus and it still happens. My computer is under one year if that helps. This is the only update that has not gone through all the rest took. I don't know how to get rid of the message to keep coming back about the missing an important update. I have not reinstalled my anti virus yet while I go through this process.
Any help out there? Please and Thank You.

Hi:
I have two suggestions for you:
1. Try manually installing the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
You want the 3rd file down on the list.
2. If that fails to work run the Microsoft Hide Windows Update utility that I zipped up and attached below.
Run the utility. It should find the KB5025239 update that won't install.
Check the box to hide the update.
The tool will run and report the problem is 'fixed.'
Restart the PC and hopefully the update will no longer be gumming up the works,
You may have to keep clicking on the 'Retry' button to get rid of it.
Then hopefully when the May cumulative update comes out, it will install without a problem.
That will include the April data as well.

Thank you Paul,
I did each of your suggestions with no luck. I will wait until the May one comes out but if the April one is including I am assuming it still won't go through. I really hope that it will. I sure would hate that retry icon to be here for the rest of my computers life.

You're very welcome, Diana.
Sorry, that didn't work.
If you were able to hide that update, eventually it may go away.
Sometimes, I've had to restart the PC and click on the 'Retry' icon many times before it would finally clear itself.
I mean many times, like 10 or 20.

Hi, Diana:
Glad that multiple clicking on the 'Retry' button finally worked for you, Diana.
It is very stubborn.
I have run into that several times on various W11 updates.
I stumbled on that workaround out of frustration the first time I encountered it.
I just kept clicking that Retry button as fast as I could and bingo, eventually it worked.
On W10, I never had an issue running that utility and hiding the update.
I didn't have to keep clicking on that Retry button multiple times.
When I restarted the PC, the troublesome update was gone.

It seems that this issue will be a monthly one. This month this pops up:
2023-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5026372)
Install error - 0x80070002
I found this to download and it fails when I try: windows11.0-kb5026372-x64_d2e542ce70571b093d815adb9013ed467a3e0a85.msu
Any new advise and will this be monthly issues?

Sorry that the most recent update also fails.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions to offer except to contact Microsoft support or post the problem on the Microsoft Windows support forum.
