Hello! Iam writing in hopes of getting an answer as searching for other posts did not help me solve my own problem. (Hope I wrote in the correct thread)

(The laptop model is an Hp envy laptop 13-ba1085cl ) (was confused on what to write here my apologies!)

Basically the screw near my laptops hinge is missing. (Linked images below) and I ordered one from amazon that was said to be "good" apparently but when i tried screwing it in the head was too big, (Linked an image below of the black screw that was too big to screw in) any ideas on what I should look for instead? Please and thank you very much in advance for anyone that is willing to help me.

(The ordered screws were: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CZQRFJPP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 )
(namely: M2.5x5mm 2.5x5mm Cross Recess Wafer Head Screws Washers Nuts Assemblies 50 Pieces Stainless Steel Black Phillips Large Head Machine Screws (M2.5 x 5 mm) )

Hi  @MLDaniel,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I  understand how it can feel when something as small as a missing hinge screw causes such a big inconvenience with your laptop. From what you’ve described, it sounds like the replacement screws you ordered aren’t the right fit for your device, which is why the head size is mismatched.

Since hinge screws are very specific to each laptop model, using a generic set often doesn’t work out. To avoid further damage to the hinge or the casing, the safest option would be to have the correct part sourced and installed by an authorized HP service center. They’ll ensure the exact screw type and size for your model is used, and can also check if the hinge itself needs adjustment.

To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.

Thank you for trying to help @Deep_World My problem is that I cannot take it anywhere because the laptop no longer has warranty and besides I only need to replace a single screw near the hinge that I would like to know the name/size of as the M2.5 x 5 mm screws I ordered did not work as they could not fit sadly is there any chance you could recommend or even show a single hinge screw from the hp envy 13-ba1xxx  series?
