My wife just purchased a Model TE01-5147c Envy tower. It is equipped with with a 500gb m2 and a 1tb hdd. Windows lives on the ssd and data is stored on hdd. Unfortunately, she needs more storage. So my question is: can I simply replace the 1tb hdd (even though it came pre-installed) with a larger drive. Will this cause issues booting and running properly. My other thought is to just add another hdd, leaving everything pre-installed in place.

Hi @twemcd
If you can replace the HDD with a larger 2 Tb 4 Tb or more, it can also be an SSD.

Thank you for your time. Actually, I replaced the original 1tb data hdd with an almost new 4tb that I ran a low level format. The machine would not boot. I used cloning software to move everything on to the new drive, disk part to access the resulting unallocated drive space, and renamed the new hdd same as the first one. All is well now, runs great and I have all the storage I'll need for years to come! Once again, thanks.
