I have a Pavilion a6703w that came with a pre-installed 15-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader. I have not used the Memory Card Reader in several years; just connecting through a usb cable. I found several different cards from cameras of the past. Inserting an SD card brought up no response. I looked in taskmanager and could not find the device. To try to resolve this, I disconnected the front panel usb cables from the MB and verified the usb MB pins all work correctly. I re-connected the front cables. The two usb inputs work fine and the Memory Card Reader shows up in Device Manager as an unknown device. So I asked Win7 to update the driver by searching the internet. After a minute, it tells me Windows has already installed the best driver; while at the same time a spinning circle on a box is telling me windows cannot find a driver for the device. In Device Manager it tells me the device has been disabled.
In the past I have always connected to the HP support to download drivers. As always, my pc is immediately identified by the system. The system then says is will check and bring up a list of available drivers, please wait up to three minutes. I have tried several times for days, it never brings up any drivers.
I called HP support, but all she wanted to do was sell me support and would not tell me any website where HP drivers can be found. All I want to do is get drivers to get the 15-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader to work.
If anyone can direct me to the drivers or offer additional methods to get the device to work, I'm grateful. Thanks.

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
Keep me posted how it goes

I tried to indicate clearly that I have already done that multiple times. Just to be sure I ran it again. It finds no problems, fixes or updates. I have had to replace the MB 2 times and upgraded everything possible over the years; so it doesn't surprize me there is nothing built into Windows 7 to add drivers for this device. I always used to go to the HP website it would identify my model and list the drivers for each device. As the picture shows, it identifies my model but the drivers never load.
Thanks for the help, I still need a link to any site that has the HP drivers for this device.

Since the issue persists after updating all the drivers, I suggest you perform a System Recovery. You can refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01867418
