Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Got an error code saying CPU fan not working properly.   REbooted computer several times same error.   Took side off to watch it.. fan spin for like a split second then stopped.   took to geek squad and they said it needed to be replaced.   I am trying to find out what size of Fan I need to order so I cna replace it but having no luck. . anyone know what size I need>

The fan and heatsink are sold as one unit (HP part # 866177-001)

 

The part is not orderable from HP, but I do see the part available on eBay.

Looking at the one picture, you should be able to just swap the fans from the heatsinks, thus saving the hassle of having to clean the heatsink/processor surfaces and reapplying thermal paste.

HP does not list the size or separate part number for the fan.

 

Unscrew the fan from the heatsink and search for the fan using the Manufacturers Part Number on the fan.
