Hello,
I have an HP compaq dc5750 small form factor that came with Athlon 64 (Single Core).
I tried to install a Phenom X4 9150 but the computer won't boot although fan is working and the cpu gets very hot.
My Bios is v02.36 and i reset it by removing the CMOS battery and putting it back.
When i put the Athlon chip back computer works normally.
Any suggestion?
Thanks.

That is the newest BIOS for that system motherboard. So no joy. You will have to stay within the supported CPU's listed.

Here is the support and spec page for that PC. Nowhere do I see support for the Phenom X4 line of CPU's.
Upgrades to the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processors with HyperTransport Technology are supported, however.

I see, but i am running windows 7 (I also managed to run it on windows 10 for a short time but i reverted to 7 for better performance), which is not supported according to this specs sheet (maybe windows 7 was not released at the time of writing the list). So i thought maybe the CPU list might be outdated too. Any thoughts?

The only way the motherboard will support other CPU's than what is on the list would be through a BIOS update that specifically was intended to do that. I do not see one that states that. What BIOS version is presently installed?
