HP Desktop - M01-F0033w
Microsoft Windows 11

The problem is simple. My computer recently shut off and wouldn't turn back on. So I bought a new PSU, making sure the connectors are correct on it. The new one has a couple extra connectors, but the three (4pin x2 and 7 pin) are all on the new PSU. I connected it and plugged the power in, and immediately saw smoke, but couldn't verify from where. Doing a sniff test, it appears to be coming from the new PSU. Is there any cause of this?

Old PSU in the computer is a 180w, while the new one is a 310w.

@Lunaryx , welcome to the Community.

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP.  It doesn't appear that you bought your new PSU from HP.  Therefore, it may not have the correct power connectors which could cause damage to the PSU and the motherboard.

There isn't a 24 pin connector on the new power supply. As for a replacement, attempting to add one from the site itself says it's unavailable for purchase. There is both a 2 pin and 6 pin connector, on top of the 4x4x7 pins that are present in the original PSU. The PWRCMD slot has the wires in the same spot on both PSU's as well. If this one won't work, where would I be able to buy a replacement part?

Thank you for the additional information, @Lunaryx!

I suggest that you contact HP Customer Support to see if they can help you.  It is my understanding that only PSU's from HP will work.
