Welcome to this never-ending discussion, which has already been marked as "solved".
If you have a problem, please open a new topic, and add details:
* what is the model-number of your computer?
* which BIOS update did you use? Is it one that includes the Meltdown/Spectre remediation?
* what is the part-number and specifications of your stick(s) of RAM?
* what screen-shot images can you include?

This is a "user-to-user" forum, not an official path to contact HP.
So, your recommendation to "fix it" has not reached HP. Sorry.

Always glad to hear insight and experiences from other users.... Even to a "solved" thread as it helps expand the knowlegebase! I too have some 2400 RAM showing a run speed of 2133 , but when I compared it to a diff stick/manufacturer that displayed a 2400 speed, the Mem tests were identical (i.e. the 2133 showed no diff from the 2400 stick). What i find odd, is that the original 4GB stick shows a speed of 2400, while the new 2nd stick shows 2133. In Speecy, the 'XMP JDEC' does show 2400 for the 2nd stick. Others here can offer better details and technical insight. Thanks for sharing!

I tried upgrading my ram on this machine to 2x8gb of DDR-2400. It is having the same problems everyone else is mentioning. I know for a fact that the original 2x4gb ran at 2400 Mhz because I recorded a benchmark.
It would seem that the XMP profile that is applied to the stock ram does not get applied to new ram. I'm pissed off at HP's deception about this.
