I bought this OmniStudio X from Best Buy. It lasted 28 days before dropping dead. No power, no way to turn it on. Took it back to Best Buy. They wanted money to fix it or they would have to "send it in" to HP for repair. Why would anyone think someone would pay money for this computer that didn't even work for 30 days. They would not accept a return - you only have 2 weeks to do that. So off it went. Now 5 WEEKS later still no computer and no sign of it ever coming back. HP says Best Buy never filed a repair order with them so they have no idea where my computer is. So if I have this straight... HP sold me a defective computer, Best Buy tried to extort money from me to repair it, and now my machine is just gone and no one cares.

So my question is - [edited]

That is heart breaking.  I would go back to Best Buy and speak with a manager or higher.  It sounds as though they are skirting the issue by giving you a run around.  I hope they gave you paper work for what has been done.  If they supposedly sent it to HP for repair, they are still responsible for it.IMHO.

Best Buy has now lost my computer. All I get from them is that they are trying to find it. HP is of no help because they have no record of ever having repaired it. You would think HP would be a little more involved in this since it was their 28 day old computer that had a catastrophic failure. But they just throw it back on Best Buy. Needless to say, I'll never do business with either of them ever again.

At the end of the day, it is still Best Buy's error and their responsibility.  They (Best Buy) owe you a replacement computer.  I can see why HP has said they are not involved, because it was never in their hands.

Hardly HP's fault, other than the computer died.

Not to belabor this but the problem does start with HP in that their computer didn't last 30 days. Then it moves to BB. But again, HP wouldn't step in to help. So in the end they look just as bad. My lasting impression is they sell junk that can't be repaired and they use incompetent vendors that can't deliver. Turned it over to my CC company to get my money back since I've have to buy another computer to keep my business going.
