I cannot find the Card Reader in Device Manager on my HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01-0050.  Product number 6YQ50AA#ABA.

If I insert a card, it appears under Disc Drives as Generic SU32G SD Card.  It seems to work but I don’t know where the reader is in Device Manager.

There is an Intel SD Host Controller listed but I don’t think that is the reader.   I don't know what it is.

It is supposed to have an HP 3-in-1 Media Card Reader per the specifications.   https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06456412

One site suggested to look under Memory technology, this does not exist in Device Manager either.

This is a Windows 10 computer purchased in January 2020 and v1909 loaded and installed when I turned it on.

A Realtek Card Reader Driver (Windows 10 v1903/v1909) is listed on the computer’s driver web page https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-0000i/29014367/model/31...  But I cannot find any Realtek Card Reader in device manager.  There is no HP 3-in-1 Media Card Reader driver listed on the computer's driver page.

Can anyone help me find the card reader in device manager?  I don’t want to just load the Realtek driver if that is not the card reader I have.

Did HP forget to load the card reader on this computer? ?

HP uses other vendors for parts. It is a Realtek, please download and install

So the intel host controller listed in device manager is the card reader, but it uses a Realtek driver?

I know you are busy but could you offer just a little more information before I download and install this.

OK.  I downloaded the package you sent.  It is located at C>SWSetup>SP100238.

I cannot find where anything was installed on this computer.  There is nothing added in device manager.  I went to Event Viewer.  Checking System log, Setup log and Application log I find nothing.  Only thing I found was the restore point I created prior to downloading SP100238.

I found a file, C>SWSetup>SP100238>install.exe.  I clicked on it.  User Account Control came up.  I clicked yes.  A box flashed then nothing.  I right clicked and chose run as administrator.  Same thing, a box flashes.  I don’t know what it is.  It is there only for an instant.  Just a flash.  Then nothing happens.  Nothing opens and nothing installs.

I do not know what to do and cannot find any card reader device on this computer.  Yet when I insert a sd card into the slot on the front of computer a “drive” appears in Device Manager and in File Explorer.

The card just slides in and out, it does not click into place like the reader on my Windows 7 computer.

I would appreciate any help.  Anyone?

Well I finally found the answer to one of my questions here:   https://itstillworks.com/check-pc-sd-slot-8404707.html

It explained, “In the device manager, look for a device labeled “SD host adapter.” If you see it, your computer has a built-in SD card reader.”

In fact, the Intel SD Host Controller listed under SD host adapter is my card reader after all.

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A375&SUBSYS_8653103C&REV_10\3&11583659&2&A5 was configured.

Driver Name: sdbus.inf

Class Guid: {a0a588a4-c46f-4b37-b7ea-c82fe89870c6}

Driver Date: 06/21/2006

Driver Version: 10.0.18362.628

Driver Provider: Microsoft

Driver Section: SDHostIntelCherryTrail

In my original post I said, “There is an Intel SD Host Controller listed but I don’t think that is the reader.   I don't know what it is.”  I sure wish someone had just said that is the card reader you are looking for.  But no.

Anyway, it does not seem to want to update to v10.0.18362.31252 Rev.A released on Nov 25, 2019.  But the driver it has is working.

I don’t know why it won’t install update drivers.  So still need help with that.
