I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry in advance if it's not related to hardware. I'm a little confused about my issue and I was wondering if anyone could provide any information to help.
I just recently purchased a certified refurbished laptop off of Newegg that had been sent back to HP's factory to get fixed. I just received it 3 days ago and it shows my laptop's warranty expired on 6/6/2021, 2 months ago. Not only would I have expected maybe a extended warranty since it's certified refurbished, but I also don't believe they took the previous owner off of my computer. I went to register my device and it told me it's already registered under someone else's account. Now I can't even claim my laptop under my account.
I contacted HP and a lady told me she can't do anything for my warranty and then prompted me to pay $50 and signup for their monthly tech service so I can have a tech guy remove the other person's association off of my computer so I can register it. To me, I don't feel like I should have to pay that much money just so I can claim my laptop under my account and I'm not sure what to do at this point.
Thank you so much.

I don't know the policy of Refurbished machines (any) in the US but on some countries, it up to vendors to determine the cover, normally 3 months and up to 1 year.
Normally I get 3 months for Refurbished and Secondhand machines from vendors in my country.
Regards.
