HP elite book 840 g2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day to the house,

My HP elitebook 840 g2 stopped charging. The battery was changed but still the same. When you plug in the power adapter, it shows plug in but not charging. After some seconds, it stops showing plug in while the cable is still connected. The charging port is very OK and not broken. If I remove the battery and plug in the power adapter, the led indicator blinks like 3 times and goes off when you press the power button. But the computer works very well with the battery. What do I do?

@Kenj-light -- unless you are a computer technician, there is nothing that you can do to fix the hardware.

Your computer works when connected to AC power.

Your computer works when the battery is charged.

Your AC power recharges your battery.

So, can you ignore the symptoms?

Or, is there some "battery management" software on your computer, to limit the charge on your battery to about 80%, because the software has detected that you rarely use the computer solely on battery power, and thus the software limits the charge-up to 80%, which prolongs the lifetime of the battery.

What I mean is this sir. When you plug the adapter to the laptop for the first time, it indicates that it's charging for just some few minutes and then stops showing plug in. That is, the plug in indication on the screen stops showing even if the battery is below 60%. Then when you remove the battery and plugin just the power adapter, it doesn't power the system but rather, the charging led indicator blinks 3 times like the battery is low when there's no battery connected. In a nut shell, the adapter is not powering the system even after trying several power adapters. Same issue.
