I have a Omen 45L that I purchased last July. I want to upgrade the 3080 10GB to an 4080 16GB. Is this plausible? I believe computer comes with a 800 Watt Power Supply. If I can upgrade, do you have any safe recommendations for the 16 pin connector adapter. Thanks.

the nvidia rtx 3080 reference card draws about 320 watts, the rtx 4080 is the same (320 watts)
so if the 3080 card worked so will the 4080
so as long as the 4080 model card is the same length as your existing card it should be a drop-in replacement
as most 4080 cards use the new type power connector,
you will most likely need a adapter to the new 16-pin 12VHPWR connector the one below has 3 8pin to one 16 pin which covers the higher wattage 4090 cards also for your use just using two of the three 8 pin connectors is fine

Disappointed to report that the 4080 did not boot. Lights went on, but fans didn't spin. I used the included 3 way adapter. But the 45L only has 2 8 pin connectors. Other than getting a new power supply, I'm not sure if there is another way to get enough power. Anybody have any other ideas?

the nvidia 4080 cards are now available in two memory configurations, 12GB (285 watt) and 16GB (320 watt)
also the Asus card is a factory overclocked model and as such it's base wattage for bothe models will be higher than the factory referenced non overclocked models
the 4070 series is a better match for the z230, however if your going to upgrade a system soon then the 4080 would be more futureproof

I finally was able to get the 4080 to work. I had to daisy chain the included cable with a CableMod cable that I purchased. Temps are good, no crashes. It's not an ideal fix, but seems to be working well. I might eventually buy the premium Corsair 600 Watt dual 16 pin cable to replace the daisy chain. But for right now, I don't want to mess with what's working.
