Hi @Boboleto

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you would like to connect a optical Drive The optical drive (ODD) in most modern PCs uses a standard SATA power connector, which is a 15‑pin connector providing +3.3V, +5V, and +12V rails. If your drive is older (IDE/PATA), it may instead use the 4‑pin Molex connector.

Common Optical Drive Power Connectors

Connector Type

Pin Count

Voltage Rails

Typical Use

SATA Power

15 pins

+3.3V, +5V, +12V

Modern DVD/Blu‑ray drives

SATA Power Pin Assignment

Pin 1–3: +3.3V (rarely used by ODDs)

Pin 4–6: Ground

Pin 7–9: +5V (logic and electronics)

Pin 10–12: Ground

Pin 13–15: +12V (motor for spinning discs)
