HP 160t Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

OK  HP and Dell have 8700 i7 8th GEN CPUs

Everybody mostly says the 8700 cpu must be support by the 300 chipset Motherboard.

Hp has OMEN 160t which is the only i7 ( seemingly) ( that I could afford)

but this monster has no specs sheets that I can find but HP SALES says it has the

TAMPA2 motherbooard whci the older 270 chipset.

----that is scary  ---- ( maybe) ??

So how did HP get the 8700 to work on any older type chipset that supposedly can not handle the

new 8th GENERATION CPu ?

Anybody have a OMEN 160t ?   Has it water coolling ?   how the FAN noise  under load ?

any experienctual comments welcome and needed.

HP has no details on this computer that I can find  ( another scary---maybe).

Please let info fly if you have an HP 8700 6-core machine-- thanks

Well goodgirl

You are wrong.  It is the 160se and the specs are right there on HP

and it has the 370 chipset and it can come with liquid coooling.

But still we need to hear from owners on comments good and bad

about this Godzilla macine.

You must have previously been looking at the TAMPA board and not the TAMPA 2   !!

wake up and smeel the roses

@BevGoodGirl

If you read the articles posted on the net pertaining to the i7-8700, there could be some motherboard manufacters that might enable the 8700 to work with the Z270 chipset.

I am considering a mobo replacement that supports 3-way m.2 RAID 0 and the i7-8700k

Hi BevGoodGirl.

I have only seen 8700 support on 300 series Intel boards. Have seen some articles stating Intel will not let MB OEM's modify 200 series chipsets to work with coffee lake processors. Hard to say if these articles are factual?? :Surprise:

I just built a new Intel system with the following specs:

Asus Maximus X Hero (Z370 Chipset)
Corsair Carbide 200R
i7 8700K
1TB Samsung 960 EVO
Asus Strix 1080 OC
Corsair RM650x
Corsair H80i, V2, AIO Liquid Cooler.

You will like the 160se very much if you are in the market for a new PC.

So Tom what did that BUILD cost roughly ---?   I am too busy and lazy for a build but I can add on stuff.

COME on OMEN 880-160se OWNERS    tell us the accessments of the components and functionality.

WHATS BAD ?  WHAT GOOD ?

Hope it has Seagate !?

I see people adding on FANS ---scary.  I go with 88700 (none K) and the small water cooler , I think.

Scared of depending only on fans.

Yes, the TAMPA s board has 370 chipset so no problem there !!

THere is a sale going on on 880-160se ---   ohhhhh  myyyyyyy .....

HP sales cannot or will not answer any questions on how to get VETERANS 20% discount that is mentioned on WEB.

-----

Can a big NUCLEAR BUTTON be added on to the OMEN 880-160se  >>   that would be neat ..
