I have a gaming desktop OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-1xxx but refurbish one. it still show under warranty but I can't add to my profile. Just buy it last month. I have recently update the bios F27 version and updated 4 updates but after the update, the computer keep random freeze while playing game or just browsing internet. After I reset the PC from windows, it looks ok. If I install the update, it freeze straight away. It doesn't show BSOD but it just turn all the monitor to black screen and I need force to shut down the computer. Do you know is the problem? Thanks

Hi @jeffjai,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Random freezing issues after updates on your OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop can be caused by a variety of factors, such as BIOS incompatibility, driver issues, or hardware conflicts. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the problem.
Verify BIOS Compatibility
- Ensure the BIOS version (F27) is appropriate for your specific motherboard model. Check the HP support website for your desktop's exact model and confirm that F27 is the latest recommended version.
- If F27 is causing issues, consider rolling back to a previous stable BIOS version (F26 or earlier). Use the HP BIOS Recovery tool for this.
Check Installed Updates
- If you know which updates caused the freezing, uninstall them via Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates.
- Focus on updates related to graphics drivers, as they can directly affect gaming and browsing stability.
Driver Issues
- Update all drivers, especially for:
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA/AMD drivers (use their official utilities like GeForce Experience or Radeon Software).
- Chipset: Download the latest chipset drivers from the HP or motherboard manufacturer’s site.
- Network: Outdated network drivers can also cause freezing.
- Use Device Manager to check for any driver conflicts or warnings.
Power Supply and Performance Settings
- Ensure your system is receiving adequate power. A faulty or insufficient PSU can cause instability.
- Set Power Plan to High Performance:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select High Performance.
Event Viewer Logs
- Check Event Viewer for critical errors around the time of the freeze:
- Type Event Viewer in the search bar.
- Look under Windows Logs > System for errors.

Thermal and Hardware Checks
- Monitor CPU and GPU temperatures using tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner.
- Ensure that your cooling system (fans, heatsink) is functioning properly.
- Run HP Hardware Diagnostics to test your RAM, GPU, and other components.
Reset to Factory Defaults
- If resetting the PC resolves the issue temporarily, avoid reinstalling problematic updates or drivers until the root cause is identified.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
