OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-112na

Hi All after my recent successful upgrades: SSD, Power supply and Graphics card, thanks for all the advice I’m at the stage where the processor is the bottleneck and I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth upgrading to the highest possible Coffee lake processor the board can take or starting from scratch as the board is getting on a bit. From what I understand my board will take only three versions of the processor, mine came with the middle version Intel Core i7-8700

next one up I can buy for about £200 odd UK

Intel Core i7-8700k

but is it worth it do you think?

@ChrisUK27,

Your OMEN by HP 880-112na Desktop PC (2XB55EA) as fitted with a Tampa2 motherboard (SSID: 8437), can be upgraded not just with 8th gen Intel processors, but also 9th gen Intel processors, such as the i7-9700K:

Point being, yes, for gaming purposes it definitely would be worth-it to upgrade your processor either with an i7-8700K, or better still, an i7-9700K (8-Cores, 8-Threads, 3.60 GHz up to 4.90 GHz).

Incidentally, you can purchase one of these bad boys starting around £139, such as via this eBay-United Kingdom Seller: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276482740783?epid=25033515943&itmmeta=01HZ3CPG6076CEHS12BEE449GJ&hash=ite....  Just shop around, especially via eBay, look for established Sellers, and you may find excellent deals.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@ChrisUK27,

For example, please consider the overall performance (but especially gaming performance) of this HP Omen 880-191 Desktop gaming rig, fitted with the same Tampa2 motherboard (SSID: 8437) as your PC with an i7-9700KHP Omen 880-191 Desktop Rfrbd PC Performance Results - UserBenchmark:
