Hello,

for the past few months I have been having the issue of my computer restarting whenever I play games which put a high demand on my graphics card (e.g GTA, RDR2, Yakuza, etc). My computer restarts approximately 10 minutes after booting up said game/s. I have battled with this issue for a while now, and have attempted the following:

  • replace cooler
  • remove Nvidia graphics drivers using DDU
  • clean my pc
  • Reinstall graphics drivers
  • Upgrade to windows 11 (Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631)
  • Disable core isolation
  • attempt to install BIOS update software (it did not launch)

I'm at wits end, and have attempted all things suggested. My only remaining idea was to attempt to update my BIOS using the "Software & Drivers" tab on the HP product support page, yet whenever I launch "sp140166.exe" and confirm the terms and conditions, nothing happens. Furthermore, I have checked Event Viewer after the game crashes, and it returned the following error consistently:

"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000113"

Here is my system information:

OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-1915ng Bundle PC (49U52EA)

BIOS Version/Date:    AMI F.12, 11/4/2021

SMBIOS Version:     3.3

Processor:      AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor, 3701 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)

I would be very grateful for any assistance regarding this issue of mine.Thank you in advance.

UPDATE: I have just run the HP support assistant software, and successfully updated the bios with a lot of trial and error. Unfortunately, the error persists

@pam170 , welcome to the Community.

You have done a very thorough job of troubleshooting the problem!

I have two additional suggestions: 1) check the developer's website for patches for the games.  I have had this problem with games that I don't play on Steam and 2) have the power supply unit (PSU) tested to assure it is providing clean, stable power to the computer.  A PSU can cause many problems that don't appear to be power related, such as, the computer rebooting regularly.  I have seen this many times over the years that I have been gaming.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have already attempted to for fixes for non-steam games, but I have never found anything to work properly. Running high-requirement benchmarks in games also seems to yield the same results. Though oddly, playing a game on low-graphics (yakuza: kiwami) also reboots my pc, several minutes into the game itself. By this logic, the only possible culprit could be a faulty power supply. Would you have any idea how I could check my power supply? I ran it by a shop a few days ago, and they charged $350 just for replacing the cooler and a general cleanup, and money is scarce at the moment.

Thank you for the additional information, @pam170!

I am sorry that you had to pay that amount to get your computer cleaned and a cooler replacement.  It sounds a bit pricey to me, but I don't know pricing in your country.

Here is a link to an article that should help you with testing the PSU:  https://www.howtogeek.com/172933/how-can-i-test-my-computers-power-supply/

The paper clip test is not going to do much since the computer boots.  You will most likely have to do the other tests.  It would be great if you knew someone who had the appropriate test equipment.
