OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0024

Hi.

Thank you for reading my post.

I've got a 32gb kit if Kingston Fury Beast ram to install.

They will be replacing the stock hyperx fury ram.

Aside from swapping the sticks, anything should be aware of?

Is there anything in the bios or on the mobo I need to mess with?

Ty

Hi @EhnTeePee ,

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with running your RAM at its advertised speed of 3200 MHz on your R7 3700X system, and you're looking for guidance on configuring Ryzen Master correctly. Let's break this down step by step:

Kindly check if you have tried the below steps already.

Verify Compatibility:

  • Ensure your motherboard supports the R7 3700X and the RAM's rated speed (3200 MHz).
  • Check if the RAM is listed in your motherboard’s QVL (Qualified Vendor List).

Update BIOS:

  • If not done already, update your motherboard BIOS to the latest version. BIOS updates often improve memory compatibility and support.

Check for XMP/DOCP:

  • On AMD systems, XMP is sometimes labeled as DOCP or EOCP.
  • Even if the BIOS doesn’t list DOCP, check for manual frequency, timing, and voltage adjustment options.

Manual Configuration in Ryzen Master:

  • If you must use Ryzen Master, here’s what you should do:
    • Open Ryzen Master.
    • Navigate to the "Memory Control" tab.
    • Look for the following key timings:
      • CL (CAS Latency): Set this to 16.
      • tRCD: Set this to 18.
      • tRP: Set this to 18.
      • tRAS: Set this to 36 (this value is often double the CL + tRCD).
    • Adjust the memory speed (MHz) to 3200.
    • Set the voltage to 1.35V (common for 3200 MHz RAM).

Testing Stability:

  • After applying the settings, run a memory stress test (e.g., MemTest86 or Prime95) to ensure stability.
  • If the system crashes or fails the test, reduce the speed slightly (e.g., 3000 MHz).

If you're still stuck, I recommend you contact phone support. They will help you via remote assistance and check what is causing the issue.

Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @EhnTeePee,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It's exciting to upgrade your OMEN 30L Desktop's RAM! Installing the Kingston Fury Beast RAM should be straightforward, but here are some points to keep in mind for a smooth process:

Confirm Compatibility:

  • Ensure the new RAM matches your system's specifications, including DDR4, frequency (e.g., 3200 MHz), and voltage (e.g., 1.2V).
  • Check the motherboard's maximum supported RAM capacity to ensure 32 GB is within limits.

BIOS Adjustments:

  • After installing the RAM, boot into the BIOS (press F10 during startup).
  • Verify that the RAM is recognized correctly under the System Information or Memory Settings section.

Enable XMP Profile (if applicable):

  • To achieve the RAM's rated speed (e.g., 3200 MHz), enable the XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) in the BIOS.
  • Navigate to the Advanced or Overclocking tab, locate XMP, and set it to Profile 1 or the appropriate profile for your RAM.

Handle with Care:

  • Power down your PC completely and unplug it before swapping the RAM sticks.
  • Ground yourself to avoid static discharge, which can damage components.

Test Stability:

  • After installation, run a memory test using software like MemTest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostic to ensure the new RAM is functioning properly.

Note:

  • Dual-Channel Configuration:
Install the RAM sticks in the correct slots (usually 1 and 3 or 2 and 4) to enable dual-channel mode. Refer to the motherboard manual for guidance.
  • Mixed Frequencies:
If using additional RAM modules with different speeds or timings, the system may default to the slowest configuration.
  • BIOS Updates:
If the RAM isn't recognized or running at its rated speed, update your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version from the HP Support Page.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi, Elohi.

Thank you for your reply.

The install went well.

I have the R7 3700x in my system

The only issue is the ram speed.

I have the R7 3700x on my system.

It's 2400 instead of 3200.

There's is nothing in the bios I am able to change as far as CMP profiles are concerned.

I have spent a few days checking and the only solution is to use Ryzen Master to manually set timings and speed.

The problem there is there are dozens of timings settings under the memory tab and the four timings given cl16 -18 18 18 are fine but anly 2 share the same name in the Ryzen Master tabs.

I gave up after hours of trying to figure it out.

I never hit 'apply' so, nothing got messed up.

If I had someone send me a screenshot with the values changed in Ryzen Master I could easily pop them in.

I got discouraged on my own and gave up.

Thank you for your time.

Oh. Dang sorry. I never came to update you.

I hope you and your people are well.

I don't know what you celebrate so, I'm sending my best wishes.

On to the RAM

Until I really looked at everything in total from our convo to specs and my expectations, I made a dumb mistake.

I knew that HP requested ram to be made out of spec.

I didn't know that is was spec'd down to 2400.

When I asked for help, my assumption was that the Stock ram was running at 3200, and just wanted the new sticks to have the stock timings and speed.

Since our last chat, they've been installed and gaming flawlessly.

The Kingston software even let me set up the RGB.

I hope you have a great day ahead.

Thank you.
