OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-112na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I just purchased the Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit to install to my omen 880 112na. I presumed due to the MB's limit of 2666mhz that's what it would default to but its instead defaulting to the lower limit of 2133mhz. I understand due to HP making the BIOS very restrictive I cannot enable XMP but is there a workaround to this? or am I mistaken in not being able to enable XMP?

You're very welcome.

Tinkering with the BIOS is something that I would never attempt.

Better to live with the lower frequency memory speed than to live with an expensive doorstop.

Hi:

Unfortunately, you are not mistaken.

You cannot change the memory speed in your PC's BIOS.

Just about everyone with a HP gaming PC has that problem.

Seriously HP, why?!? Its a simple memory upgrade. - HP Support Community - 7722210

Has anyone had any luck getting non-HP-issued HyperX RGP XMP... - HP Support Community - 8146307

Non-HP memory goes to the lowest clock speed.

I'm wondering if the C16 timing is too fast when for DDR4-3200 it should be CL22 for it to bridge to 2666 MHz but I honestly believe it wouldn't matter.

What timing speed was the HP memory?

For 2666 MHz, it should have been CL19.

Hi, Yes after searching the part number of the original ram (MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6H1) it seems to be CL19. Not that I really understand all that technical stuff haha I just wanted some decent ram 😞 the only 'solution' I seemed to have found whilst searching was modding the BIOS which seems far too technical for me to even attempt so I wont bother given the risks it entails, I guess I'll have to live with the lower frequency.
