Example: HP Pavillion p6705f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’ve been trying to update the processor in this pc for some time. I’ve tried 5 different procs and only

one of them booted past the windows sign in screen. After roughly 5 minutes I’d get a random blue screen error every time. The motherboard is an Pegatron IPIEL-LA3. It originally runs the Penguin Duo-Core E5700. Specs on hp.com say it’s upgradeable via wolfdale and yorkfield series. Up to quad core. I’ve tried the E8300, E8400, E8600, Q9650, and the QX9650. The latter won’t boot at all even after upgrading the psu. Bios beeps. The other 4 freeze mostly only the E8600 boots past windows but as I mentioned earlier either freezes or random blue screens. Bios is v6.09 no way to revert to v6.07. I know this pc is no longer supported but is there any way I can get one of these to run? This pc I use as a Plex server and I’ve been having issues with it lately. I know it’s old but I literally have 5 processors ones gotta work.

  • Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    • Intel Core 2 Quad (Yorkfield core) series
    • Intel Core 2 Duo (Wolfdale core) Dual Core series

but if it can help some models with this motherboard:
