Hello everyone, I have a PC570-p0xx ,Intel I7-7700 hDD primary M" 1T Windows 11 24H2 x64. I'm trying to upgrade the second 4T HDD with a new 8T one, this HDD doesn't show up in windows 11 management and partitioning, I can't figure out if it's an Intel 300 chipset problem or possibly it's the HDD.
The hard drive spins and looks like it's working.
Thanks for any help.

@and-emme, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
You're trying to upgrade your secondary 4TB HDD to an 8TB one on your HP Pavilion 570-p0XX with an Intel i7-7700 and Windows 11 24H2 x64, but the new drive isn't showing up in Disk Management. Let's walk through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this:
Check BIOS Detection
- Restart your PC and enter the BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or Del during startup).
- Look under Storage Devices or System Information to see if the 8TB drive is listed.
- If it’s not listed, the issue may be with the SATA port, cable, or power connection.
- If it is listed, then Windows might not be recognizing it due to partitioning or driver issues.
Verify SATA Port and Power
- Ensure the SATA data cable is securely connected to both the motherboard and the HDD.
- Make sure the power cable from the PSU is properly connected to the HDD.
- Try swapping cables or ports to rule out a faulty connection.
Initialize the Drive in Disk Management
- Open Disk Management (Win + X > Disk Management).
- If the drive appears as "Unallocated", right-click and choose Initialize Disk.
- Use GPT (GUID Partition Table) for drives larger than 2TB.
- Then create a New Simple Volume, assign a drive letter, and format it.
Check for Intel RST or Chipset Driver Issues
- The Intel 300 Series chipset should support large drives, but outdated drivers can cause issues.
- Download and install the latest Intel Chipset and Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers from HP or Intel:
- HP Pavilion 570-p000 Drivers Page Official HP® Support
- Intel RST Driver (Intel site)
Test the HDD on Another System
- If the drive still doesn’t show up, try connecting it to another PC or use a USB-to-SATA adapter.
- If it’s not detected there either, the drive might be faulty.
Additional Notes
- The Pavilion 570 series typically supports one 3.5" HDD and one 2.5" drive. If you're replacing the 3.5" secondary drive, ensure the new 8TB drive is also 3.5".
- If you're out of SATA ports, you can repurpose the optical drive's SATA port or use a USB 3.0 external enclosure for the 8TB drive.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
