I Have a HP Omen 870-2XX with a hp-830c motherboard that slows down while playing 4X strategy games and would like to upgrade the processor and ram. What are the best components I can place into it?

A little more information is needed here.  Is Omen laptop or desktop? exact model number would help dial in the options.

Chipset socket amount of physical Ram and Wattage of Psu will help. The Omen series PC's come in both Amd and Intel platforms, This is why we need more info!

@Uyavich1,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Please ignore the previous message, as you provided all the information needed.

Your HP Omen 870-2XX is fitted with the Thimphu-K motherboard (SSID: 830C), and here are HP's Thimphu-K specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05369438.

Please note, HP manufactured different variations (SSID: 2B4B, 828A, 82F1 and 830C) of this motherboard, and your SSID: 830C is still a Thimphu-K motherboard.

Anyway, the best compatible processor for your PC is the 91-watt TDP i7-7700K.

Mind you, playing games is not just about the processor, but also how much RAM you got, what you use as your primary (boot) drive (if you haven't, you should use an M.2 NVMe SSD) and especially what graphics card you have.

Kind Regards,
