After upgrading to Windows 10, the computer does not recognize my HP Pocket Media Drive when I put in in the built in drive slot on top of the computer. If I use the USB cord, it reads the drive on one plug in but not the other. Maybe due to USB 2 or 3? Would like to use drive in built in slot.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand, your PC is not recognizing pocket media drive.
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time it worked fine?
How di you install Windows 10?
What was the original operating system shipped on your PC?
As you've upgraded the operating system on PC, I would recommend you to go back to the original operating system as I see your PC was shipped with Windows Vista.
It may not be supported in Windows 10.
You could refer to this article for troubleshooting the issue: Media Drive Missing in My Computer (Windows XP)
NOTE: Even though the article is for Windows XP, steps are same for Windows 10 but navigation will be little different.
Hope this helps,
Have a good day ahead,

Thank you for your reply.
My PC was delivered with Vista installed, but with an included upgrade to W7 as soon as it was released.
I upgraded to W10 with the upgrade downloaded from Microsoft .
My system recognized the pocket media drive(PMD) in the built in slot with W7, but has not with W10 installed.
When I put the PMD in the slot, a notice comes up that the USB device malfunctioned and is not recognized by W10.
I worked through the article you recommended. If I connect the PCM with a USB cable, my PC will recognize it.
In Disk Management, my PMD shows up as a Healthy (Logical Drive).
It appears that I may not be able to use the PMD in the built in slot unless there is some way to get W10 to read the input from the built in slot as well as from the USB cable slots.
Any suggestions!

Have you tried connecting it through the usb 3.0 ports? If not, please give it a try. 🙂
Also, try un-installing the usb hubs from the device manager and then re-start the computer and check if it work's fine.
Let me know how that pans out. 🙂

I have the same problem with windows 10 not recocnizing a 350gb pocket drive. It works in a windows 7 machine. When you say to unistall th usb hub, what specifically do you mean?. uninstall just that in device manager, or all usb, which i don't want to do. hp psc 2410 USB is listed under disk drives. If this is the pocket drive i could uninstall that. Also, when the pocket drive is attached to any USB port is keeps syaing not recocognized, then disappears. This keeps repeating. The drive never appears in Disk Management.
