Product: compaq elite 8300 sff
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

so this computer has an Intel Q77 chipset, which, according to Intel, is pcie 2.0 on all slots.  On HP's guickspec sheet, it says the x16 slot is 3.0 and the rest are 2.0.  Who is correct?

GPU-Z should be able to confirm the PCIe x16 bus interface.

 

Or try CPU-Z using the software's Mainboard tab.

How do these ascertain pcie version? Is it read from bios, or does it query the chipset or CPU or something?
