Hi! Can my laptop handle a gen 4 SSD memory drive or should I get a gen 3. For example, I am planning on getting the "Hard disk (SSD) Silicon Power US75, M.2 2280, 2 TB"
Write speed 6500 Mb/s
Reading speed 7000 Mb/s
Hard disk size (form factor) M.2 2280
Interface
Interface PCIe Gen4 ×4 NVMe 1.4
I want to know if it is worth it and my computer will use the SSD's full speed, and am I even searching the right thing, because I consulted ChatGPT and don't want to do harm to the laptop and just want to upgrade the memory.
Thanks in advance.

Hi:
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that the M.2 slot supports PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe SSD's
I don't believe that Gen 4.0 SSDs were supported at their full speeds until you have a notebook with a Ryzen 7xxx series processor.
It's not going to hurt anything by installing a Gen 4.0 SSD.
This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can provide:
