Hello. I am considering buying a used Elite Desk 800 g5 sff i7 9700. I would like to add a graphics card. I was advised that the 1650 LP will work but it recommends more power. I know that the HP PSU is proprietary. Is there a HP part that I can upgrade to? Thank you in advance.

Incidentally, my most recent legacy HP desktop upgrade project is/will be the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF -very similar to your G5 model: Re: Upgrading HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF - HP Support Community - 8523990.
If interested, you'll see how I am going to transform an average HP EliteDesk desktop office PC into a lean-mean gaming machine step by step.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Your HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06443940, is fitted with a 250-watt power supply (either the L28758-001 ("HP SPS-PSU ENT18 250W SFF EPA92 (Platinum)") or the L30417-001 ("HP SPS-PSU 250W 92 EFF HV ELITEDESK800G4SFF") as per: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=6BD64AV.
[EDIT:] And apparently, there is also the HP L08417-002 250-watt power supply as installed in: "Product Number: 7LL73UT, Description: HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Small Form Factor PC".
Option #1: According to: https://www.hardware-corner.net/desktop-models/HP-EliteDesk-800-G5-SFF/, you should be able to fit/power a GeForce GTX 1650 OC Low Profile 4GB GPU, such as this affordably priced example: https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-GeForce-Profile-Graphics-GV-N1656OC-4GL/dp/B087R7V2Q6/ref=d_pb_allsp..., even though according to: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1656OC-4GL/sp#sp, a 300-watt power supply is recommended.
As far as I know, there are no higher-wattage PSUs available for the HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF.
Option #2: This would require you to depart the confines of the HP Reservation. Consider one of my legacy HP desktop upgrade projects -an HP Z240 SFF, for example: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-HP-Z240-Desktop-Works....
The basic principle is to sync an externally parked secondary industry standard 24-pin ATX power supply with your SFF to power your GPU, leaving the stock power supply where it is. Since there is little room inside your SFF case for a high-performance graphics card, I parked a high-end graphics card outside the case as well.
But this approach may only appeal to a small segment of PC enthusiasts/nerds.
Hope this was helpful.
