I have an HP Pro Tower 290 G9 that has a 180w power supply (L70042-012) by default. I would like to add a video card to the PC but I would need a power supply of at least 300w that has the 6+2 connector for video cards. I noticed that on the back of the PC there seem to be provisions for a classic ATX power supply with a fan on the back. Which power supply should I get to perform the upgrade?

The part number for a compatible 350-watt power supply for your HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop is: M49611-001 (M15695-002). This power supply is equipped with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable, as seen here in this eBay-US purchase link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125512993592?_skw=HP+M49611-001&epid=21062773879&itmmeta=01JJHPNWZFQ5EF7S9J....

Thanks, I was just looking for the model of the power supply you told me. But can I possibly use a classic atx rear power supply with maybe some adapter?

@Fabb24,

Many HP computers are designed with proprietary power supplies, and your PC is one of them.  Whilst this can be circumvented for some HP models with non-HP aftermarket ATX power adapters, there are no such adapters available for your PC to my knowledge.
