Is a 180 watt power supply enough to power an Nvidia 4060 GPU? If not what would I need?  I have an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01. It has AMD Ryzen 7 with integrated Radeon Grapics 3800 mhz, physical memory 32 gb.  I am trying to get PCVR to work.

Hi @Boomer_Bob,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

For an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01 with a setup of AMD Ryzen 7 and 32 GB of RAM, when considering an upgrade to include an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, the power supply (PSU) is a critical consideration. Typically, a mid-range GPU like the RTX 4060 would require more power than a standard 180-watt power supply can provide.

Recommendations:

Power Supply Upgrade: It is highly recommended to upgrade to a higher wattage power supply, generally in the range of 500 watts or more, to adequately support an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU along with your existing components. This will ensure stable operation, especially when leveraging the full capabilities of the GPU for demanding tasks such as PCVR.

Check Specifications: NVIDIA typically provides recommended PSU wattages for their GPUs. It is advisable to check the specific requirements for the RTX 4060 on NVIDIA's official site or product datasheet before purchasing a new power supply.

Compatibility: Ensure that the power supply upgrade is compatible with the HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01 form factor and connectors. A power supply with sufficient PCIe power connectors for your RTX 4060 is necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi,

Short answer : No.
Strange to buy a gaming pc witouth a dedicated GPU.
The nvidia 4060 have 115W consumption, your cpu ryzen, 65W. Just for these two compenents, it's not enough.
The rest of the machine still needs to be powered, motherboard, ram etc

With wet finger, u need at minimum 280 - 300W.
Hp uses proprietary connectors,

You'll either need to buy a more power full compatible hp power supply (they do exist, as they are variant of this model, but i don't have the part numbers),
Or adapt a standard ATX power supply if possible (i'm not familiar with this motherboard model)
