I currently have the baker ms motherboard and wanted to know what best psu suits my upgrade. I want to go from a 180w to a 400w psu, but with the many part numbers ive found online, its hard to deduct which one is the correct one for me, especially considering Hp's proprietary PSUs. My current HP PSU part number is L70042-006. Please let me know what 400w psu suits my motherboard. On a side note, ive noticed that my "P2" picoblade connector had 4 wires, one of them being purple, but when i look at other 400w psus i notice that the purple wire is missing. What is this purple wire for? What problems can i encounter if i install a psu that does dmhave that wire? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to our HP community forum!
The part number for a compatible 400-watt power supply is: L69242-800 "Power Supply - 400W cDT23 FR Gold".
Now, it so happens that there are different editions of this power supply.
The first picture (with the purple wire) is this 400-watt power supply version: 1Pcs New Internal PSU Power Supply HP Envy TE01 Pavilion TG01TP01 L69242-800 | eBay, and the second picture (without the purple wire) is this 400-watt version: New PSU Power Supply For HP 400W 280 288 480 600 800 G3 G4 L69242-800 US | eBay:
To be clear, based on my experience with purple "P2" power supply connector wires, both 400-watt power supply versions should work just fine in your desktop, but if given a choice, you may want to pick the power supply having the purple wire.

thanks for the reply! i really appreciate the information. However, my current power supply's "P2" picoblade connector only has 4 wires (black, purple, gray, and green). Other 400w psus ive seen dont have the purple wire. What psu would work in that condition? thanks 🤗

What is the part number of the 400-watt power supply you are referring to?
Also, because HP is rather scarce when it comes to providing comprehensive power supply information/compatibilities, sometimes you just have to try it out whether a particular power supply works (without startup error issues) or not.
Purchase whatever power supply you want from a Seller who allows for returns. Worst that could happen is that a power supply doesn't work, and you'll have to try out another power supply. That's something I had to do a number of times when I upgraded legacy HP desktops.

Hello, I have an HP Elitedesk 800 G5 SFF and I want to update some components but it has been impossible for me to get a PSU with the 7-pin connector, my power supply is 240W and comes with purple cable, could you help me with the update of my CPU?

There is a 400-watt power supply compatible with your HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF, which has part number: 942332-001. This power supply lacks the purple wire in the "P2" power connector, but it still functions fine.
A better power supply upgrade option would be this 500-watt power supply with p/n: L77487-003.
I used this in my HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF Part II - Page 5 - HP Support Community - 8720291.

I was looking for the source you tell me about 500w to send to Colombia and there isn't, I found this source https://www.ebay.com/itm/275295186509 but I don't know if it really works, I was thinking of buying a certified 24-pin source and make the adaptation to the 7 pins

If you can order parts via eBay-US, there are plenty of Sellers who sell the L77487-003 power supply: Hp L77487-003 for sale | eBay.
