OK, even though this falls outside the HP Reservation (sorry HP!) but based on the HP Reno/2 motherboard incompatibility with the Nvidia RTX 50xxx cards, I would consider something like an Asus ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming WiFi or the ASUS TUF Gaming Z790-Plus WiFi motherboards.

Yes, exactly: that Asus Prime H610M-E motherboard is A-OK too!

Key compatible chipsets considerations for an i7-12700 / F / K / KF:
Z690 / Z790: Best for overclocking (K-series processor)
H670 / H770: Performance-focused without CPU overclocking
B660 / B760: Mainstream, supports memory overclocking.
H610: Entry-level, no CPU or memory overclocking.
Note: Whilst 700-series chipsets are designed for 13th/14th gen, they are compatible with the i7-12700 processor family. Meaning, something to consider for a future processor upgrade!

That would be a nice gaming case for sure.
As for motherboards with the best chances for graphics cards compatibility and performance: consider an aftermarket motherboard such as Asus.
Whereas in contrast, HP, Dell, and Lenovo OEM motherboards are designed specifically for pre-built, standardized, and as we discovered yet again, often restricted desktop systems.
