Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

In a Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx (4AW86EA) I want to replace the 256 GB M.2 SK Hynix by an 500 GB WD Blue SSD.

Problem: the SSD doesn't appear in the BIOS, the installed Win10 nor in a SystemRescueCD booted from USB stick.

I updated the BIOS to F.60 and connected the SSD with each of the two plugs from the preinstalled power cable and with both connectors (HDD0, HDD1) on the motherboard for the data. I also tested different data cables and a second SSD. In no combination a SSD was recognized by the BIOS or an OS even after running the drive check from the diagnosis part of the BIOS.

Both SSDs worked connected to a different computer.

I don't know how to proceed. The only thing which is sounding greek to me is the fact, that SATA0 and SATA1 are disabled in the state "device ready" in the menu for the device security in the BIOS. I don't see any cause for this.

Thanks for an idea what I can do now!

Volker
